Angies List in Tulsa, Oklahoma - Ripoff Artist

They illegally charged me for a one year subscription. I complained and they said they would refund my money but never did. BEWARE I had subscribed for a one year discounted subscription and it was not the least bit helpful. Then, I called them and let them know I did not want to continue my subscription. They charged my card anyway. I could never get back my money and now I will say not only are they a sorry service for people to turn to but they are guilty of the very practice they say they will help you form getting ripped off.

Angies List in Minneapolis, Minnesota - Angie's list is a scam

I was trying to find a marriage counselor. A google search turned up Angie's list, which told me to get a subscription to see results. So I bought a subscription. Then I found out that Angie's List Health is a separate service. Paywall behind a paywall. So I sent a message to customer service, asking them to cancel my account. Never got a response. The next month I was billed again. I called to cancel my membership. The first customer service rep put me on hold about 5 times in rapid succession, then hung up on me. The second rep was at least polite and professional, but kept trying to offer me new services even though I was trying to cancel. Very frustrating experience.

On Aug 24, I purchased a house cleaning "Big Deal" from Angies List that was sent to me by Angies List in an email. On the Big Deal ad Angies List stated that the company would contact me within forty eight hours. It is Sept. 9 and I have had no contact. I have...

I got ripped off for $1499 for a "Big Deal" on Angie's List. It's rating system doesn't seem to any longer be for the benefit of the consumer, but instead for the contractors who pay to be on their list. I've bought several "Deals" promoted by Angie's List and all have been far less than quality, as indicated by the "A" rating on Angie's List.

Angies List in Hyattsville, Maryland - Angie's Scam

I have recently moved and am looking for a painter. I looked at Craig's List, but no one stood out. So, I thought "Aha! I'll try Angie's List." Paid my money (reluctantly) and tried searching for a painter. The search was not going well. Since I was there, I thought that now that I'm here I will check out chiropractors. Whoa! More money. Already spooked by the auto renewal, I saw this as another trick. Granted, not large sums, but I bet it adds up. I think the whole charging thing is a scam. I'll stick to doing the research myself through exploring the web and word of mouth. I did get a refund, but only after they offered to exchange services and charge me 50% for the dropped service. Difficult to explain, but reassured me about the scam - ness of the List.

Angies List - Customer Care Review from Concord, North Carolina

In May of 2015 without my consent Angie's List debted $39 from a banking account that was not being used. This was after a telephone call a few days earlier, when I stated I did not want to renew my service. This unauthorized debt was not notice until later, after causing bank service fees, NSF cost to me. Angie's list finally did return the $39, however, in July of 2015 this again happened. I again contacted Angie's List and they did remove the charge. After going back and forth with customer service they refused to pay the accumulated $172 in bank fees, because due to an insurance company doing this same scam the account did not begin with a positive balance. Mr. Brown was very kind and did attempt to assist me, but i feel I am owed the $172 due to telling the representative that called before the unauthorized debt was clearly told no. Lisa Stroupe

Angies List in Marrero, Louisiana - Angie's List Scammers

August 2015 A/C Contractor in New Orleans, Louisiana Wrote: What you say is accurate. AL allowed a client to post a negative review on my company by a client we never did any work for. The client was angry that we did not service his area that was outside our service radius of 50 miles. Angie's List allowed this person we never met nor did any thing for, to post a negative review! Also, to advertise on Angie's List " The Big Deal ", you would have to give them 30% of the value you are selling! AND they can withold up to 30% of the amount they collect until the "Big Deal Expires" . So if your advertised promotion is for $1,200 and it lasts for 6 mos, you do not get 30% of ALL SALES until 30 days AFTER THE 6 MOS ENDS! i.e., 7 months later. DO NOT ADVERTISE WITH ANGILE'S LIST. If you get bad reviews hire an attorney to file suit against them. I am in the process of doing just that. A/C Contractor, New Orleans, Louisiana

Angies List in Casa Grande, Arizona - Auto billing

3.3
Details
I suppose that I was at fault for not checking that there would be auto billing when I joined last August. I was auto-renewed without a prior email request (only7.99 so I'm guessing others just let it go when it happens to them) but did contact PayPal to make sure that Angie's List would not be able to just go in and take money from my. I called Angie's List also and told them I had no interest in their service. I was not offered a refund even though the charge was from the prior day. Lesson learned cheaply. No referral for Angie's List!

Angies List in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Contractor prices can sometimes be subjective

I read how honest and/or inexpensive a contractor is. I call. He arrives: honesty and price become nightmares for ME. I wonder who those reviewers were. Humm. 1. one contractor says, I can do the job for a bargain price and I'll be right out. he gets there, looks_ later says, "We can't do that job ... don't have equipment 2. one contractor says, "I'll get back with the price." The price was a bargain! He suddenly, said, "We can't do that job. Our guy, who does it, quit." 3. one contractor said, "can do the drive way for $3200 ' WOW!' I said, 'go ahead.' I call later. They say, "We don't have an excavator. The guy who does drives quit ... can't do your job."

Angies list will allow someone who was not even at my office give a review.

Angie's list will let you review a business that they were never in. Yes, it is true. When asked how can you allow a person who was never in my office do a review the reply I got was a son/daughter or care taker can do a review without ever being there. Stay away from this company. Any competitor and unethical person can make up anything they want and Angie's list will stand by there "paying subscriber". Angie's list is only out to make themselves look good and is not interested in fairness to honest businesses that have been slammed by someone who was not even involved in being helped. Very sad that any review company does not have stops put in place to only allow information published by actual customers.

It's absolutely true. We have reviews on our profile which we don't even want listed with Angie's List that are from people we never worked for in the first place.

Ask Angie's List to help with that? Tough.

People are free to post whatever they want whenever they want with no recourse. You can pay; however, and get those reviews pushed down to the bottom of the page, but then that sounds a heck of a lot like extortion.
