Angies List review in Phoenix, Arizona: Protect America security system

5.0
Details
I would never advise anyone to have protect America, you must give them 30 day notice to cancel and not just verbal over the phone but in writing and a big hassle. I contacted them Jan19th 2015 and thought it was cancelled but the person told me to send an email and I tried but after frustration and not able to email I gave up. a month later I got a bill for 49.00 and then when I complained I was told to resend an email and it would be 30 days from my pay date and not when I filled what a joke. It cost me 98.00 extra dollars. They are twice as much as ADT and I am told by friends ADT is far superior. My rating for Protect America on install a big D and customer service and price and huge fail EEE

Angies List - Online Review Review from Bossier City, Louisiana

1.0

I joined Angie's List thinking that in a city the size of Shreveport it would have plenty of worthwhile reviews. While remodeling a house I went to AL many times but rarely found even one review for the businesses I was searching. I found better reviews on other search sites that didn't cost me a dime And actually think the BBB was a better place to look. Don't waste your money.

That was my experience as well. Few services and businesses are reviewed and when they are, not much information is included (such as charges).

Most business are many miles away and none are local. Most that are reviewed have one single review.

That just isn't helpful. Angies List isn't worth the money or effort.

Angies List review in Rancho Cucamonga, California: Tried to cancel; got to "chat"

1.5
Details
After never finding a suitable service lead from Angie's List, I went to the site to cancel. I was automatically redirected to "chat". There's no opt out. You're stuck in chat ***. After reiterating I wanted to cancel because I had more success with Groupon/Yelp/Amazon than I ever experienced with Angie's List, chat responded with "what can we do to improve our service to you". Rewrote what I had initially said, and received back "how about if we charge you 25% less?". I wrote back to the effect, "so you want me to pay 25% less for a service I don't use? Seriously?" Unbelievable. I told the rep to look for my review of Angie's List on social media.

Angies List review in Littleton, Colorado: Useless service - do not waste your money and time

1.0
Details
Their service was useless but I signed up for a year so i figured I wasted my money. BUT NO they renewed my subscription automatically and charged my credit card - again I figured I'd eat the cost for not reading the fine lines. But to top it off I can't cancel online. I had to call their main number and from there was transferred to the local/Denver representative office where I left a voice mail - very annoying process to cancel. Anyone even considering this service is wasting their money. You will get emails and a monthly mailing that are full of worthless information. There is NOTHING to gain from Angie's List and a headache to get out of the contract.

Angies List review: Difficult to find providers

I am remolding my new house so I joined Angie's list to help find reliable contractors. When you enter a category in in their search field (example counter installations) you get everything from plumbers, bathtub liners etc. If you click on to a provider you have to start all over. They need to work on their web site. They also need more contractors on their site. They keep asking you to review people that we never used. They expect their customers to do their jobs. We pay and get nothing for our money. Why would I get plumbers when an enter counter installation. Same thing happens when you enter other selections. Example floor tile installation. This is not worth your money. Yelp is better

Angies List review in Freehold Township, New Jersey: They take your money no matter what

This bunch of dirt bags along with their boss the very caring and understanding Angie, who gets on TV the radio, and anywhere else she can to tell everyone how wonderful it is to work with them. Mean while they will do nothing but auto withdraw on your bank account. I set up to start working with them over the winter. I gave my company name, address and phone no. with the understanding that they were going to help me build my profile, and build my Angie's list page. To start the first problem is that the only one that can help build your profile is someone paying Angie money. Thats right even though I have a 20 yr. established company with an A+ better business bureau rating and many excellent reviews on other sites they said the only reviews they can use have to come from paying Angie's List members. So now The Angie's page never gets finished. With reviews, links or pictures. They have my deposit of the first month of service which is supposed to begin in the spring 2015. Come march 1st 2015 Still snow on ground. I get a call from them saying we can't charge your card. So my first question is, why would you be charging my card anyway. I haven't spoken to my rep in months, you have my first months payment as a deposit and we have never finished setting up my profile. We go from that conversation with the collector, to my sales agent who says your supposed to start in the spring and even though you haven't run yet and you have a half done profile we're gonna take your money and run it anyway. A second payment up front. So after this I say thats it your done, your a bunch of crooks, you don't care about any customer buying or selling, you only care about the auto withdraw. My pretty common business sense tells me that these dirt bags are commission based, and the sales dictates the salary. Thats why over and over every one is complaining about this low life pocket picking dirt bag

Well it seems homeadvisors.com and angies list are both crooks and out to get your money. We had angies list last year when we were remodeling and it was impossible to find a contractor to perform the work.

I was actually looking at the reviews for homeadvisors.com. and all the reviews were bad.

You cannot trust anybody now. As someone suggested Google and do your own search

Angies List review: Auto Renewel without my permission

I checked my account today & they were trying to auto renew my membership but they never notified me by email. I chatted with Amanda who tried to offer 25% off my membership. She also wanted to set up my account to automatically notify me 30 days prior to renewal. I told them no thank you and to cancel my membership. I also requested that she reverse the charges on my account. We will see how long that takes. Interestingly, they are not a BBB accredited business. I am giving them a "F" rating for trying to take money without permission.

They just charged my PayPal and over drawing the bank account I have attached to the PayPal account earning me a overdraft charge from my bank. I keep this account empty and w/out o/d protection for a reason; using it for vendors who may (accidentally) do just such a thing.

They had been sending me emails, bribing me with $17 of their bucks to renew, but I had no intention, so ignored them all.

Then they just did it anyway.

'Chatted' with a rep late last night on their chat feature, he refunded the $11.88 right away, but he had to submit the matter of the $25 o/d fee to accounting dept today.

Ironically, I am also a paying advertiser, but this may also be what helped me get at least the $11.88 back so fast. I have other concerns with AL, let's just say I am a hostile advertiser, but the rep last night, on his part was excellent.

Just charged my card without notifying me. I will be contacting my bank and Angie's List.

Bad business. Everyone my daughter use off of Angie's list had been horrible.

Angies List review in Aberdeen, Maryland: Autorenewal SCAM

I too just fell victim to the AngieScam. I never authorized a renewal and never signed up for auto renewal. They used my PayPal credentials to "send" themselves a subscription renewal payment. No contact to me, and no notification whatsoever! I had to resort to chat to cancel my account and get an immediate refund of the fraudulent transaction. I have opened a case with Paypal so they are aware of this scam. Be advised, if you sign up for Angies List, They WILL take your money! I too fell victim of the reviews on this site, I guess they sell their glowing endorsements to the highest bidder, I was not happy with the contractor I used, and my review of them was deleted within 24 hours.
