Angies List needs class action suits

I am looking into filling a class action suit on angies list over there false review policies and refusal to remove businesses that have been shut down. If you are interested in joining please email me at sococontractor@***.com. this thing is making me write 100 words but since i have nothing else to say i am rambling on about nothing now. i really wish i could just write a short posting and be done with it. why do i have to write 100 words? really whats the point of that? I find that really annoying. but im almost there!

Angie's List Grants Awards to Unlicensed Contractors

I hired a contractor from Angie's List because he advertised himself as licensed and insured. After he breached his contract with me and I looked him up, he was unlicensed. I filed a complaint with Angie's List and they said he had two weeks to reply. Two weeks later he replied with nonsense but no proof of license. But since he had replied, my complaint went into a "stalemate" status. Then they said he had another two weeks to provide proof of licensing. After those two weeks went by, they said they are giving him another two months because he is now in the process of becoming compliant .. whatever that means. He is still unlicensed... AND when I did a search for the keyword under which I had found him, he still pops up high. The only thing preventing other members from being victimized like I was is my F review. Nothing else. Angie's List has not removed him and has not asked him to change the description of his business which begins: " Licensed Home Improvement contractor..." The company was not licensed in 2013 and yet they received an award.... Angie's List is a joke...

Want to know why Angie's List won't remove him? Because that unlicensed contractor is paying Angie's List to advertise with them.

That is why he still shows high on the search results.

Of course they won't side with the consumers anymore because a whopping 73% of Angie's List revenue yearly comes from the BUSINESS OWNERS, legitimate or not. Google review sites before you sign up for them!!!

Waste of money

I paid to join Angies List to put a bad experience on a moving company we used. 4 months later my review was gone. I didn't know the companies could pay to have it removed. What good is that? Moving company took $4000. deposit but never showed up to move the furniture. No refunds, they had no idea where the truck driver was or when they would be able to reach him. The company was nationwide. Then angies list charged my credit card for renewal. I had to fight that. What good is the reviews if they delete the bad reviews? Anyone (even the company the review is about can place a good review.

Joined Angie's list to find a contractor for wood rot repair on my deck.

I joined Angie's list on recommendation from my neighbor and submitted my request to several contractors claiming to do deck repair. Unfortunately, as I got responses back, none of them wanted the job or did repairs of this type. The one that did said he could talk with me about it in two months. I also found that many took over a week to respond. I finally went out to HomeAdvisor, which was free, and found someone in three days and the job was done before some of the Angie's list contractors even responded. This was my first experience, but I can't say I would recommend Angie's list. It was a waste of time and money for me.

Angies List - Website Review

I made an appointment with a roofing contractor, Roof Smart in Cape Coral, Florida, and on their website it claims they are on Angie's List! Woohoo! While I did not consult Angie's List because I've always believed it is a sham, this roofer did not even bother to show up for his appointment. Says a lot about Angie's List contractors doesn't it? The appointment was for 10 a.m. on Tuesday June 24th. The gentleman's name is Frank. So much for Roof Smart and for Angie's List! Somebody needs to shut Angie's List down.

I know a roofing contractor with a "A" rating on Angies List. His manager is in a felon currently in prison.

He threatened me and I called Angies List. They still keep him with his "A" rating.

I could just go to Craigslist for free to get criminals to work on my home.

I hope you realize that any business can be on Angie's List... It takes about 5 minutes to setup and requires zero authorization.

Also, being on Angie's List does not in any way mean that the company is good. It is simply a glorified version of Yelp.com which you need to pay for.

Angie's List Charged Me Renewal Fee without my consent

I bought one year membership. After one year lapsed, I was charged $35 renewal fee without my consent. I called Angie's list immediately, after waiting for a long time, I was told I signed something when I signed up and they only refund 25% of $35. I can't remember anything I signed includes automatic renewal. I have never had any service that charged my fee without my consent and will not refund my fee. Angie's List rates everyone else, who rates Anglie's List? Aglie's List is powerful and its ad is everywhere. They can bully the small users. What can you do?

They did the same to me. Report them to Better Business Bureau. Maybe they hid renewal clause in small print, but this is unacceptable.

Put the bill in dispute with your credit card and threaten angies to make a complaint to the att generals office over fraudulent billing.

Confusion

I cannot believe the concept of this company. Angie certainly found a way to scam people. Who ever heard of a company that charges the customer for the review! The consequences are obvious! Do people actually fall for this??? There is no company that can offer a customer anything if the customer needs to pay for the reviews. The customer will be paying the vendor. Once I saw this, I backed out of signing up and of course was solicited after that. The other sites that charge the vendors to advertise are just fine. A pity that Angie is making money off of this. It looks like the poor customers who fell for this have learned the hard way. The only one who benefits from this is Angie.

Angies list is a refuge for people who need someone to tell them what to do.

In other words NITWITS!

I love their adds.. "We got a big dog that needed care and I don't think we could find what Fido needed without Angie's List".

Seriously, you could not find a vet and then find a pet groomer?

Other Product Review

I worked for a plumbing company in Renton Washington in which I was told by the owner that he was paying $13,000 a year for specific zip code areas for better positioing on Angie site.

Deleted my review without permission; website does not work properly

The Angie's list website is poorly designed, and their customer communication is confusing at best. They solicited a review from me before a service by a craftsperson listed on their site was completed. Foolishly, I submitted one. I took a fair amount of time to submit a more thorough review, but guess what: they deleted the second review without asking my permission first! The website doesn't work with Google Chrome, which has the highest market share in the US of any of the major browsers. The person who completed the work for us is excellent. We have no complaint with him. Angie's List is a great idea; too bad its back office operation isn't better.

Upselling on Angie's List

I signed up for Angie's List to get some info about service providers in my area. Included in the initial promo material was the statement that you get unbiased reviews on service providers, INCLUDING PHYSICIANS AND DENTISTS. I've used the list for roofing repair and gutter repair recommendations and was pleased by the info I got. However, when I tried to get recommendations about physicians, the site told me i would have to spend an additional $21 to get the physician list. Nowhere in the original info was there any reference to additional charges for lists such as physicians. I e-mailed them yesterday to complain but got an auto-generated message that they are very busy and will get back to me at some unspecified date.

Angies List Keeps charging my credit card for no reason

Last year I needed a service and I called Angies List. What a mistake. They charged me twice for two locations because that service was not available in the first one. . Even then, I could not get a referral for a contractor who was willing and licensed to do the job. Since then in the next year without any call or providing any service, without any notice, they charged my credit card. I called them, they said they will reverse the charge but then they changed their mind. I called my credit card company y and complained of them. They can’t charge without providing any service. That is wrong.

This automatic renewal also just happened to me. There's nearly no information available for my area in some categories, so I rarely used the service.

Without notice of any kind, they helped themselves to $17 from my PayPal account, which is more than their website says they charge for my zip code! The money was refunded after I complained and requested my membership be immediately cancelled.

Review about Unhappy Customers from Fort Worth, Texas

Several years ago I started trimming tree's as a side business. Here in north Texas storms tend to tear up trees. we had many very happy customers, but we had a couple that no matter how much you did they couldn't be pleased. Those were the only two reviews we received on Angies List.

List of charges?

O.K. you click on angies list then you click on rates - it swings your right to registering. This really tells me a lot about the site. Suggest you STAY AWAY - Check with friends and family for local ratings. I had heard from a friend that this is what they did but I was hoping since they have bought all this airtime on news channels - maybe it had changed. I would not trust any company that immediately ask me for me to immediately give my email and create a password prior to showing me prices - excuse me ANGIE - we are not ***!!!
