Angie's List now has secretly begun a policy called 'On Deck' engine, that masks search results of providers with lower than a B average rating, leaving subscribers to conclude that their 'no-hit' search must mean there are no reviews on the sought provider.(I...

Angies list is the biggest rip-off I have been involved with in my 30 years in business.

The salesman sold me a bill of goods over a period of 3 or 4 months. I finally sign a CONTRACT against my better judgement. After signing the contract I discovered that the whole bill of goods is BS. In 3 month only 2 people clicked my advertisement. At a cost of $750. Not good management of the advertising budget. The sales person told me they had over 2000 enquirers per month in my area for my services and that everybody would see my name. A big lie. They did not tell me that I had to sell Angies List to my customers before they could write a review that would count towards my overall consumer score. Therefor making be an unpaid salesman for Angies List. What a scam. How could this be legal. LOL

Angies List - Angie's List uses unlicensed people with criminal records

I am a subscriber to A.L. On a "special deal," someone was advertising as a contractor for $1499. I checked this person out and he was not licensed. Further, he had a criminal record, including an arrest in April 2014 for posing as a licensed contractor, a felony. I contacted A.L. and they agreed he needed a license, but his ad continued to run. He still advertises himself as a contractor. I reported his criminal record and included a link. A.L. stated he provided a clean background and was OK. I am stunned. I don't know who or how their backgrounds are done but clearly, this was an ultimate failure. And this is only ONE person. How many others?

Angies List - Advertising Services Review from Trenton, New Jersey

I have an A rating, am a super service award winner ans WAS spending big bucks to advertise. But the bullies at Angie's thought it would good idea to threaten me repeatedly because I worked 2 jobs In Philly for AL folks who called. I thought i was doing the right thing. Didn't want to start off saying no. I was wrong. Their trade license people have done nothing but continually threaten my advertising. I pulled out. If I spend money with you am I not your customer? So if I threaten AL'ers it's ok? I am not one to take threats lightly. Beware of the bully.

I am a sole proprietor contractor. I recently received an "F" review from someone I had never met let alone done any work for. The person had sent me an email inquiry via Angie's List, which I never received and never responded to. The result: an "F" rating. I...

I have heard of this practice from a business owner recently of the same situation. I find it more on the slander side of the matter.

The person that complained about this business not getting back to them was totally wrong for this slander. The company did get back to them by leaving 3 phone messages that the complainer never checked so they assumed that the company deserved a slander comment.

How wrong, if I were that company I would sue both parties. So don't believe everything you see on Angies List!

Angies List - Unprofessional Service Review

I own a small service business and have had a similar experience. I have many great reviews but was slammed by one customer. They wrote more words than all other 20 reviews combined. When i contacted angies list to see what i could do they told me that i needed to offset any bad reviews with good ones. They said to ask any friends to give some good ratings. Obviously they would have to pay to join and it would not be a true and honest review. Also, they continually tried to sell me on advertising with them. I think they are a joke. I would suggest going with a contractor that was referred to you by family or friends and check their BBB rating. I might have a C rating with angies list but an A plus with BBB.

Angies List - It seems too easy for fraudulent or vindictive reviewers to hurt other businesses on Angie's List

Angie's List is very very unfair, and is allowing an extremely unwarranted vindictive (not even related to the job that was done) review to hurt our very small business that we have worked hard over the years to grow. This economy is bad enough, without having to have to struggle through fraudulent reviews that unscrupulous people can leave freely online. Very very unfair. Angie's List's only response help.... "Well you can go contact your past customers and ask them to leave good reviews for you". Like people already aren't busy enough to go sign up for Angie's List, pay a fee, and leave a good review for past work they had done. Sounds like another way to drum up business for Angie's List. They don't seem to care that small businesses, no matter how hard they have worked through the years to treat their customers like gold and have a near perfect record, that there will always be a couple unscrupulous and vindictive people out there who will go out of their way to hurt a small business through very easy means such as this Angie's List. They just don't care that there are these types of people out there that no matter how good you treat them and how hard you try to satisfy them, they seem to have an agenda already and seem out to get you. This day and age of online reviews through sites such as this is changing the game for the worse and ruining small businesses and making it very hard to stay in business. Very, very unfair and disappointing.

Service
Angies List Customer Care

Angies List in Coppell, Texas - Angie's List is shooting themselves in the foot.

As an Angie's List service provider since 2006, I am watching what started as a great thing go to waste. Angie's List is constantly trying to get it's companies to sell cheap services, like a Big Deal coupon. For example, get 3 rooms of carpets cleaned for $99. These are start up companies that work for cheap with inexperienced employees. Do you think a low paid worker knows how to do top notch work? My company is the best in this business, however we are not getting calls because of all these cheap offers. I will be done with Angie's List in the direction it is going. Unfortunately, their customers will be getting mediocre work for their membership. It is sad knowing that Angie's List was bringing the best to their customers, and now they are selling out trying to keep their stock prices up.
