Angies List - Unprofessional Service Review

I own a small service business and have had a similar experience. I have many great reviews but was slammed by one customer. They wrote more words than all other 20 reviews combined. When i contacted angies list to see what i could do they told me that i needed to offset any bad reviews with good ones. They said to ask any friends to give some good ratings. Obviously they would have to pay to join and it would not be a true and honest review. Also, they continually tried to sell me on advertising with them. I think they are a joke. I would suggest going with a contractor that was referred to you by family or friends and check their BBB rating. I might have a C rating with angies list but an A plus with BBB.

Angies List review: It seems too easy for fraudulent or vindictive reviewers to hurt other businesses on Angie's List

Angie's List is very very unfair, and is allowing an extremely unwarranted vindictive (not even related to the job that was done) review to hurt our very small business that we have worked hard over the years to grow. This economy is bad enough, without having to have to struggle through fraudulent reviews that unscrupulous people can leave freely online. Very very unfair. Angie's List's only response help.... "Well you can go contact your past customers and ask them to leave good reviews for you". Like people already aren't busy enough to go sign up for Angie's List, pay a fee, and leave a good review for past work they had done. Sounds like another way to drum up business for Angie's List. They don't seem to care that small businesses, no matter how hard they have worked through the years to treat their customers like gold and have a near perfect record, that there will always be a couple unscrupulous and vindictive people out there who will go out of their way to hurt a small business through very easy means such as this Angie's List. They just don't care that there are these types of people out there that no matter how good you treat them and how hard you try to satisfy them, they seem to have an agenda already and seem out to get you. This day and age of online reviews through sites such as this is changing the game for the worse and ruining small businesses and making it very hard to stay in business. Very, very unfair and disappointing.

Angies List Customer Care

Angies List review in Coppell, Texas: Angie's List is shooting themselves in the foot.

As an Angie's List service provider since 2006, I am watching what started as a great thing go to waste. Angie's List is constantly trying to get it's companies to sell cheap services, like a Big Deal coupon. For example, get 3 rooms of carpets cleaned for $99. These are start up companies that work for cheap with inexperienced employees. Do you think a low paid worker knows how to do top notch work? My company is the best in this business, however we are not getting calls because of all these cheap offers. I will be done with Angie's List in the direction it is going. Unfortunately, their customers will be getting mediocre work for their membership. It is sad knowing that Angie's List was bringing the best to their customers, and now they are selling out trying to keep their stock prices up.

Angies list

i have an email account on mlb.com and i don't use it for very much, then one day i started getting all this junk mail and i was wondering where it came from. previously i started to sign up for angies list until i was at the part that i was supposed to pay, i halted the sign up, but now i realize that it's on angies list where my email address was open or sold to people. some of them are viruses, some are girls looking for a date, most of them are weight loss programs. don't give them your email address or you will start receiving unwanted emails

Angies List review: Marketing for Sales reps only

Both general contractor companies I hired had Angie's list on their trucks. Both had no supervision or followup on complaints. Both are heavy on advertising and short on quality work. I ended up hiring someone else to finish the jobs I paid for. I later found the supervisors were salesmen. The second contractor gave their mason 20 minutes to do a 2-hour job. I am doing that over myself--digging out the bad bulging water-damaged concrete and plastering over. They just plastered the surface. I found out later most people disliked the company on Yelp. Who knows how they qualified for Angie's list. Wish I looked at Yelp before hiring.

Angies List review: BEWARE! Signing up means constant phone harrassment

About 2 years ago I signed up with Angie's List looking for a Contractor for a bathroom remodel. I ultimately chose two from the list. One came out, looked over my bathroom and told me he wouldn't give me a bid unless I signed a contract with him first. The second Contractor told me he didn't have time to write a bid. Both of these Contractors were highly recommended on Angie's List. I canceled my account immediately. I ultimately found a great Contractor through a friend and am thrilled with my new bathroom. This alone is enough reason to avoid Angie, but what I didn't know was that by signing up I was subjecting myself to constant phone solicitations from Contractors looking for work. Nothing I say or do has slowed the onslaught of unwanted, sometimes rude, people calling me looking for construction work. When I ask what company they work for, they say the person they send to my house for a bid will tell me. Really! I apparently need to make an appointment to meet my tormentor before I can find out who my tormentors are! I have Angie to thank for this. I'm reduced to writing down phone numbers and submitting them to the "do not call" registry as harassers. If you want to pay for bad advice and constant phone harassment, you will indeed love Angie.

Angie's list sounded fishy to me from the very beginning. I would NEVER pay for a review of anyone.

That is simply absurd. I would rather ask people I know who they have used. What a racket! The people who use this service need to pay to have "SUCKER" removed from their forehead.

I guess there really is a sucker born every minute.

As an FYI, I was in a free period with Angie's List and ultimately, never paid them a dime. Since Angie's List claims they don't sell personal info, I thought I was safe.

Even if I'd paid them and they didn't claim they wouldn't sell personal data, I wouldn't deserve what happened. Blaming the victim is, and always will be, reprehensible.

Agreed! My experience with several "A" rated businesses on Angie's List have been far from good. I think Angie's List has become more interested in collecting revenues than providing consumers with an honest and accurate rating system of contractors.

Angies List - Signing Up Review from Bellevue, Washington

Just spoke to representative of Angies list to become a service provider. I was told (after asking, ok, probing for information). The correct information is not freely offered, that signing up is free however, I have to get two good reviews before my listing will be available for general public to see me and that they have a great way to help me with getting my first two reviews from their fast start program. This program allows them to help me get started by giving them my confidential current customer list. I was not pleased in the least. He repeatedly told me the purpose of Angie list was customer reviews. I said you must think I am *** to give you my confidential customer list for you to exploit just for two reviews to be listed on your site. He went into a rant of what a great deal this was.......I hung up. people, ask questions about everything before consenting to anything......this is your reputation you are giving into. Don't build someone else's business at your expense. Google and Microsoft offer free website to publish and promote your services with credit card and cash payments accepted through PayPal. Just a suggestion. If you are legitimate and have a service to offer this might be the way to go. Enjoy your day!

There are stars replacing the word ***. The statement should read "you must think I am ***" not anything explicit as the absence of the word replaced by stars might/may suggest.

I am not sure why that happened. Auto text don't u love it.

Thank you and Enjoy your day.
