Angies List in Battle Ground, Washington - Angie's list has careless billing practices

I had signed up for Angies List last year and did not want to renew, so just let it lapse. Today, in checking my credit card bill on line, I noticed a charge from Angie's List on my credit card. I called Angie's List and the woman I talked with told me that I had gone online to renew my membership. I told her that I had done no such thing! I requested that she remove all of my information. This appears to me to be either dishonest or just very careless on the part of Angie's List.

They billed my credit card without permission. I cancelled that card.

Got a new card. Today they billed that card as well.

I did not even give them the card number. Deception and Thievery!

Angies list is a scam

Angies list works out these deals of the day with companies. I paid $119 for this deal only to get a run around from the contractor and a waste of six weeks. When I placed a negative review, angies list refused to post the F rating. I can see from other sites that there are new people from angies list getting stuck by this same contractor. Angies list is still offering a "deal" with this contractor despite the F ratings and reviews. Angies list was created to provide honest reviews but can't when they go into business with vendors and contractors. I would not recommend angies list because they are not impartial.

I agree I signed up and paid, I thought it would give me details of good businesses. The info was terrible, I got better results from google.

The one business I found actually close 3 months prior, so far it’s been a waste of money just a scam. I have cancelled my subscription now, and will use only google for reviews.

Angies List in Watertown, Massachusetts - Impossible to cancel Angie's List!

Don't join Angie's List because once they have your credit card online, it's impossible to 1. Cancel the membership 2. Remove your credit card from the website. I tried to cancel the membership via online chat and while I think I did, the woman online gave me a hard time not to cancel it. She kept saying things like "I'll send you a reminder when you need to cancel" -I had to beg her to cancel and even now, I'm not sure my membership cancelled. My credit card is still there. I think I'll cancel the credit card (change the number) just in case. The irony here is that Angie's Lis is supposed to be there for companies that scam people and it's one of the very companies that it warns against. We need an anti-angie's list to put these hundreds of negative revews of angie's list!

WOW....I WAS SCAMMED BY ANGIES LIST!! They made the initial search look like they had data on the company I was researching so I paid the fee to get the information.

Once I paid there was no additional into on the company! WHen I tried to cancell the acct via their online form I was redirected to a chat que. I wanted nearly a full hour and got to next in que where I wanted another 30 min for no response.

I THINK THEY HAVE INTENTIONALLY BECOME THE SCAMMERS NOT THE CONSUMER ADVOCATES. PASS THE WORD THIS IS A SCAM.

Angies List in Marigot, Saint Martin - Promises new customers does not deliver

Heres there angle. In my case I'm a dentist. They came to me and stated they were impressed with my reviews. Told me they needed another dentist to feature in my area and I was the perfect choice. You see there are hundreds of dentists on the list and you cannot easily be identified. So they move you up to the first page for a monthly few and based on the quality of your reviews you can expect to get 10-15 new patients a month. They tell you to be patient the first two to three months and after that you will see results. After 6 months we had 1 new patient. We asked to get out of the contract but only could buy it out for a lesser fee. We paid 295 dollars a month. I just found out another dentist friend was took for 3,000 by Angie's list with no new patients. And he received the distinguished service award. When Angie says you can't pay to belong to the list they have no problem selling you a listing at the top of the page. It stinks of the same thing. When you complain they are heartless. They should get the poorest customer service award. To beat it all the sales rep gave us a recommendation for a web designer that totally ripped us off for thousands of dollars. When I see Angie on TV I want to puke. It's all about making a lot of money nothing else.

I put my company info on Angie's List only to find out later that my former Internet stalker had started up again, sniffing around my business site, Googling my company name, emailing hate mail to my teachers and the entities that provide me with my professional...

I didn't get any notifications and a year later, I get a notice from paypal that they have deducted $38 from my account. I tried to cancel, but was told I couldn't because it renewed today.

That's BS that they didn't send any notification that it was going to cancel.

I haven't used this service in over 6 months and they can even check there records to use it.

The one time I did, it was through someone who was offering a "Angies List Discount"...to which he came out and told me since I was getting a discount, I had to pay cash. For a $3K job....no thanks!

Angies List in Portland, Oregon - Difficulties with Angie's List Subscription Kills Its Value

I did not get value from Angie's List (AL). I seldom used it, and when I did once, a service provider did not give me the promised discount. I paid much more for it due to automatically recurring payments from my credit card. Cancelling was purposefully difficult. There was no button for it beside the FAQ link saying it was a type of contact. When I tried to write a cancellation message, I was automatically put through to a live chat saleswoman online who tried to keep me on. After twice requesting a cancellation of my subscription, I had to threaten to complain before she "allowed" me to stop being charged. I do not know whether AL unfairly profits from its recommendations as some believe. Assuming it's legitimate, I suggest staying on only when you need it and be prepared for a hassle when you cancel. Is the company a scam? Maybe not. But they sure weren't the value they hype themselves as.

Joined last night to find a dentist, only to find that after signing up for Angie's list, I still had to pay an additiional fee, just to find any medical information. That's why we joined in the first place.

Is there a fee for everything else, after one joins? That is when I stop. It doesn't take long to figure out that it is just a money grabbing scheme.

I signed up for a year, but will call tomorrow to cancel through my credit card company. Even if the charge is irrevocable, I wish to cancel after less tha a day.

This is a good old case of pure Texas Horse____!

Loss
$200
We logged into the website to check out Angie's List after we moved into a new city/state. "Angie" sure makes it difficult for you to realize she CHARGES you for this service. Hmmm...that tells me that if she's willing to charge for her service, why not...

Angies List

I went to Angies list to find a carpet dealer to buy and install carpet. They were very nice, however, made a mistake on the day they were supposed to come and I had to change it for another day. They then measured my carpet for a cost. As it turned out they measure very incorrectly by 300 yards. I had a friend measure and then called in another company who measured the same as my friend. It saved me over $500.00 dollars and I learned my lesson. I also had a friend who is a contractor and he pays every month to advertise on Angies list. The only one that is making money is Angie!!!!!
