You pay Angie's List to list your company. The promise is when an Angie's List member is searching for a service, Angie's List provides the shopper with a list of approved contractors from which the member can search and review the companies.
But since Angie's List was bought by HomeAdvisor what happens is the member is given the list of contractors while the information is sent to HomeAdvisor pay-per-lead contractors.
The phone instantly starts ringing from the companies paying HomeAdvisor for leads. Those leads are supposed to come from people looking on HomeAdvisor, but now they also come from Angie's List.
Angie's List doesn't tell you this when they solicit their annual fee, so when someone is searching Angie's List, whether or not they choose your company from the list, the prospect's phone is already ringing from the pay-per-lead HomeAdvisor service.
Angie's list also sends an email to the prospect that only includes the names of the HomeAdvisor pay-per-lead contractor. It's deceptive
