Update by user Jun 04, 2016

Update: After filing a complaint with the BBB, Angie's List provided a full refund, in addition to letting me use the site free for the rest of the year (though I don't foresee that I will).

Do people out there think I might have been taken? Would you pay to have someone put a belt on a dryer for $169.00. My brother said he could of done it for 5 bucks. But he lives 1400 miles away.

Angies List review in Casa Grande, Arizona: Auto billing

3.3
Details
I suppose that I was at fault for not checking that there would be auto billing when I joined last August. I was auto-renewed without a prior email request (only7.99 so I'm guessing others just let it go when it happens to them) but did contact PayPal to make sure that Angie's List would not be able to just go in and take money from my. I called Angie's List also and told them I had no interest in their service. I was not offered a refund even though the charge was from the prior day. Lesson learned cheaply. No referral for Angie's List!

Angies List review in Glendale, Arizona: Unauthorized charge to my PayPal account

I purchased a subscription approximately a year ago. Without my knowledge or a notification, Angie's List charged my PayPal account for another year subscription. I'm reading over and over about people complaining about this with this company. If there was an option for recurring renewal...it was done in a sneaky way such as what these online scams do. Not happy with Angie's List. Also, I never used one service. Everything I called on was much higher in price than other places I contacted. There's also other places out there to help you find home repairs and etc with no charge.

Same here. Escalated my dispute through PayPal to a claim.

I expect to be refunded. Angie's has a time frame in which to respond.

Angies List review in Phoenix, Arizona: Protect America security system

5.0
Details
I would never advise anyone to have protect America, you must give them 30 day notice to cancel and not just verbal over the phone but in writing and a big hassle. I contacted them Jan19th 2015 and thought it was cancelled but the person told me to send an email and I tried but after frustration and not able to email I gave up. a month later I got a bill for 49.00 and then when I complained I was told to resend an email and it would be 30 days from my pay date and not when I filled what a joke. It cost me 98.00 extra dollars. They are twice as much as ADT and I am told by friends ADT is far superior. My rating for Protect America on install a big D and customer service and price and huge fail EEE

Angies List review in Phoenix, Arizona: Corporate Position on Indiana

1.0
Details
It is always fascinating when those who take advantage of our right to free speech, want to restrict others from exercising theirs. Your success is based on people's rights to express satisfaction or dissatisfaction with vendors and their services yet you find it appalling that people express themselves about their religious convictions. I will never use or support Angie's List again. I have tried to write to them about removing me from membership and any other peripheral identification but the website isn't geared for complaining about Angie's List itself, only services of others. I'm sick of all this idiotic, unilateral self-righteous piety of people and organizations that are tolerant only of their own viewpoints.

I am not ***, but I have had (and still have) friends that are. I do not practice any religion, but I have friends that do.

It is the right of both individuals and businesses to choose with whom they wish to associate, for whatever reason, as long as that decision does not eliminate the choice those people have to take their business elsewhere.

I do not believe that the legislation passed in Indiana (and other states) interfered with the rights of anyone, nor was intended to do so. The actions of CEOs such as Angie, the CEO and many others are based upon falsehoods and hypocrisy (such as Saudi Arabia and other middle eastern countries Apple) where all manner of classes are discriminated against, tortured and killed.

Angies List review in Phoenix, Arizona: Angie's List Charged Me Renewal Fee without my consent

I bought one year membership. After one year lapsed, I was charged $35 renewal fee without my consent. I called Angie's list immediately, after waiting for a long time, I was told I signed something when I signed up and they only refund 25% of $35. I can't remember anything I signed includes automatic renewal. I have never had any service that charged my fee without my consent and will not refund my fee. Angie's List rates everyone else, who rates Anglie's List? Aglie's List is powerful and its ad is everywhere. They can bully the small users. What can you do?

They did the same to me. Report them to Better Business Bureau. Maybe they hid renewal clause in small print, but this is unacceptable.

Angies List review in Phoenix, Arizona: Fraudulent advertising

I was about to hire a roofing contractor and went to the Internet looking for complaints on same...Angie's list showed the name of the contractor I wanted to hire and the add basically claimed to have information on them...So I joined and they had, have nothing...I complained and they offered me a 50% discount on the fee I had paid...I don't care much for being bought and declined...They then sent me information on a bunch of different contractors, some not even in the area and some not in the business I needed...Then they had the nerve to ask me if I used the contractor I originally was searching for, could I provide them with a record on them...Basically me paying them to provide them with what I was looking for...

I also know of a roofing contractor in Chattanooga TN who has several fraudulent reviews. He pays friends and family to write them.

I know of a roofing contractor in the Dallas area who was paying the Angie's List membership fee for friends, family and neighbors to give him good recommendations. I'm sure he is not the only one who does this.

Angie's List will do anything for $$$$, including misleading the public about information and reviews on companies. Their information is no more valuable than info found on any other site that is free like Houzz, Google, Yelp, etc.

you don't have to be a member to post a review so just because YOU pay for access to their service that doesn't mean the reviewers are paying. Don't waste time or money on sites like Angie's List, they scam their subscribers as well as the companies they list on their site. I am shocked that they have not been exposed for the fraudulent company they are yet.

Right down to Angie herself who is merely a figurehead and had nothing to do with the initial concept of the site. She's just a secretary looking for contractors for her boss who was too lazy to do it himself and HE is the one that started the company, NOT her.
