Contractor Leads Review

2.0
Details
I was sold a bunch of *** by the sells rep from Angie's list. It's been almost one year since I signed up with this group of thieves who promised me many leads, as of today I have only received three leads from their so call list. Very unhappy paying with the their service I will never ever use this company again. Sincerely Diego Hernandez Owner operator of ladybugs termite and pest control.

I'm not pissed but you should all read the agreement before signing up. They will renew by getting the new credit card expiration date or the replacement card number in case you need to cancel a card. This makes me think that I will not sign up for Angie's List. Also...

Angies List review in Fremont, California: Being pimped?

1.0
Details
I signed up for Angie's List because I needed a tree downed without taking our home down. The selected company did a fine job. Now, nearly every day I am getting one, sometimes two, occasionally three cold calls from contractors offering all manner of services. I ask how they got my number and they are always evasive. When I tell them that we are unlisted and not on the voters' register, but I would really like to know their source, they ring off. The only common thread is that if I ask "Are you on Angie's List?", they excitedly confirm. So I feel that Angie's List is pimping me. No easy way to usefully discuss with Angie's List folk. The only way forward seems to be for me to assure all such callers that NO WAY will I be employing someone on Angie's List. Should give them food for thought.

Angies List review in Van Nuys, California: BEWARE - Angie's List removes negative reviews

1.0
Details
I hired a "highly rated" plumbing company via Yelp, who did not appear to be listed on Angie's List. Said plumbing company had to be called out 3 times, to perform what should have been a relatively simple toilet repair, due to poor workmanship. Upon the third visit, I requested a refund to which they agreed. After not receiving said refund for a few weeks, I contacted Angie's List to see if I could submit a detailed review of this unreliable company - to protect/inform/advise other consumers, to which Angie's List agreed. It was only then that I discovered there had, in fact, been two prior F-grade reviews of said plumbing company which were buried somewhere and inaccessible on the Angie's List search engine. Had I known, I NEVER would have hired this company in the first place !! After completing the negative review, Angie's List inquired if I wanted their assistance to help obtain the promised refund, to which I agreed as it seemed easier than going to Small Claims Court. Dealing with the Angie's List "Resolution" department began a new nightmare experience of poor customer service as my calls were never returned in a timely manner and the "supervisor" I spoke with (nice as he was), was unable to answer most of my questions. Today, Angie's List informed me that my case has been closed as successfully settled since said plumbing company promised to send me a refund. Did I mention that the plumbing company has been promising me a refund for over 6 weeks now? To date, a refund check has yet to arrive. Angie's List then removed my negative listing of said plumbing company and invited me to submit a new review giving the company an A or B-grade rating. REALLY ??? !!! Why in the world would I want to give this plumbing company, who had to return three times for a relatively minor toilet repair, for which I then needed to hire a "real" plumber, a positive review? I would have been more than happy to update my negative review with status of said resolution (which has not yet occurred), but to completely remove details of my actual experience and expect me to give a glowing positive review of such an unprofessional company is outrageous! I no longer trust Angie's List to provide unbiased consumer reviews and neither should you. Just saying ...

Angies List review in Whittier, California: False advertising

Update by user Dec 05, 2014

As a follow up to my November 5 post, I tried the same Google search and got a similar link from Angies List, claiming that "59 Hypnotherapy are in Whittier." I didn't bother to log in to check the locations. My conclusion stands: Angie's List may be okay for plumbers or painters, but probably not good for niche service providers.

Original review posted by user Nov 05, 2014

I searched for hypnotherapist in my city using Google, and a link to Angie's List came up. The page read "57 Hypnotherapy are in [city]" and "4 Hypnotherapy in [city] are top rated." Well, I knew there weren't 57 hypnotherapists in my city, but I figured they would list some who were in nearby cities. After paying both the basic membership fee and an additional fee to use the healthcare list, I discovered that most of the listings were very far away -- too far to be practical for visiting, say, once a week. In addition, the list of "top rated" people included an acting coach. That acting coach may use hypnosis in coaching, but that doesn't make him/her a hypnotherapist. Angie's list may be useful if you're looking for a house painter or plumber, but I recommend you do NOT sign up just to use it to search for more specialized services.

I am a sole proprietor contractor. I recently received an "F" review from someone I had never met let alone done any work for. The person had sent me an email inquiry via Angie's List, which I never received and never responded to. The result: an "F" rating. I...

I have heard of this practice from a business owner recently of the same situation. I find it more on the slander side of the matter.

The person that complained about this business not getting back to them was totally wrong for this slander. The company did get back to them by leaving 3 phone messages that the complainer never checked so they assumed that the company deserved a slander comment.

How wrong, if I were that company I would sue both parties. So don't believe everything you see on Angies List!

But they forgot :) ....to mention about the termination fee of 35 % (even you told them you do not want any agreement on time frame and you do not want any cancellation fee!!!! Of Course you will believe the sales person after you will have long discussion and after he will promise you IN OUR CASE WAS MR EARL WILSON that there no cancelation fee and no contract , it will be month to month you can cancel any time without cancelation. In my case 944 $ monthly for ads I GOT ONLY 5 ORDERS FOR THE MONTH ,SO the cost of each lead $188,80 per lead ..... AND WAISTED 944$X2=1782$ + 4588$ TERMINATION FEE = 6370 $ LOSS + NERVOUS + DAMAGE FOR MY HEALTH BUSINESS OWNERS THINK TWISE BEFORE YOU DO ANY BUSINESS WITH ANGIES LIST

Angies List review in Elk Grove, California: Lost Money on Angie's List Coupon

Paid $300 for 6 months pool cleaning through Angie's List. The contractor showed up 1 month. He couldn't keep his appointments that he scheduled with us so, he said he would return our money. He never returned our money and started claiming he provided extra services and didn't need to refund the amount for 5 months of unused service. When asked for proof of these extra services, he admitted he had no proof (or permission to provide aforementioned extra services). Angie's list won't do anything (except take the money for the coupon to begin with). Contractor is still advertising on Angie's list and we are out $300. Don't buy coupons from Angie's List, they will not back the consumer if there are any issues.

Angies List review in San Jose, California: Deleted my review without permission; website does not work properly

The Angie's list website is poorly designed, and their customer communication is confusing at best. They solicited a review from me before a service by a craftsperson listed on their site was completed. Foolishly, I submitted one. I took a fair amount of time to submit a more thorough review, but guess what: they deleted the second review without asking my permission first! The website doesn't work with Google Chrome, which has the highest market share in the US of any of the major browsers. The person who completed the work for us is excellent. We have no complaint with him. Angie's List is a great idea; too bad its back office operation isn't better.
