We are a local professional remodeling company in town and was sought out by Angies List 2 years ago because it is no secret that we are the best in town. After 2 years of promising they can put us in front of a larger audience and higher ROI than our current marketing...

Angies List review in Platteville, Colorado: Angie's list screwed me too!
I never thought that a company had to "steal" your money. I in no way authorized a renewal for Angie's list. Too bad that they're such vultures to stay afloat. Paypal sent me a receipt for $13.06 saying automatic renewal and when I logged in somehow that amount grew to $27.20....WTF. I never saw anything about renewal just being stolen from you. What a crock. Thought people were generally "good", not so much I guess. Life lesson? Bad Company? Maybe they should be on their own list. Just bad practice for us hard-working red-blooded American's just trying to survive and not get screwed by bad people.....
Angies List review in Colorado Springs, Colorado: BIG DEAL, Bait and Switch SCAM! Quit Angie's List NOW!
My first dealing with Angie's List was to have a local contractor install a high-capacity bathroom exhaust fan. The specific model was mentioned in the ad. I did some research and discovered it was, in fact, a great fan. Problem: contractor showed up when spouse was home and installed a CHEAP alternate fan from home depot. When I called the contractor agreed to come back and replace with the one promised. They showed up with another cheap replacement. NOT the fan paid for. BIG PROBLEM. Angies List will not refund my money. I contracted with Angie's List. They say it's not their issue. In addition, the Angie's List recommended contractor removed my bathroom fan ducting from the roof vent, so now the fan exhausts directly into the attic...a clear violation of code.
Angies List review in Denver, Colorado: Renewal not authorized
We signed up last year to find a fence guy. We found several, a couple gave us estimates, some never called us back. As things happen, we did the fence this year instead of last year and used the one guy who gave us a decent estimate. We also used a good landscaper to clean out the back yard, so that the guy could do the fence. They both did very well. Our comments are actual, but there are too many contractors on the list who get F's for not responding. But, I could NOT find anything on their website as to HOW you actually cancel their service. So listen up, you have to contact them via the on-line chat to cancel it. They did not notify me ahead of time to verify that I wanted to renew it. Next year they will, so says customer service. I got a partial credit, and I was actually going back to the website to see if anything is there on a cancellation policy. It may be there somewhere, but as of this writing, I haven't found it. It has to be a violation of Better Business Bureau policy (and good business practice) to not publish your cancellation policy somewhere actually visible to customers. They count on the fact that one year from now, you will not remember that they will automatically charge your card (I did but couldn't find out how to cancel it) or what their actual policies are. Buyer beware!
Angies List Website
Last year, I signed up for Angies list by phone. The gentleman asked if I wanted to do the automatic yearly draft. I told him no, because you can't control your account. I received a letter on May 1, 2013, from my bank for INF, I had no idea why. We don't have...
Angies List review in Grand Junction, Colorado: Angie's List is no better than other scam sites.
I signed up for Angie's List months ago to check it out. They had no listings within 50 miles of me, and when I entered my address I was told I lived in the smallest of 4 communities within our county. Then, I was inundated with emails. When I went to unsubscribe, the button mysteriously glitched everytime I moused over it. Upon seeking to cancel my account, I found out I had to call or email them. I emailed, requesting that my account be deleted. I was told that my account "would not be renewed" and that since their email lists are "prepopulated" (read: sold to third parties), I might continue to receive emails. I'm currently waiting to find out if my account is going to be canceled, or if it's going to remain "active" in their database for another 5 months so that they can get advertising dollars off of their number of users. Even when you don't have to pay for it, it's a scam.
Angies List review in Broomfield, Colorado: Cancellation
I too am having problems cancelling Angie's list. I filed a complaint with my bank and they reversed the charge but said if it came up again, it would go through. I am now in the process of filing a complaint with the BBB to put them on notice. The heating company that I contracted with because they had excellent reviews on Angie's list charged more than they quoted and turned out to a horrible company. Can someone tell me how in the heck I get this cancelled? What really irks me is I had signed up for a ONE month membership and never agreed to monthly.

Angies List review in Westminster, Colorado: Angie's list promotes defamation, lies
A client of mine published a bunch of lies as a review of my buisness(easily provable lies), I told Angies list they said too bad ,don't change THEIR MEMBERS lies. My attorny sent my client a letter staTing this was defamation, client took off lies, Angies list found out about possible lawsuit, angies list responce was to take my buisness off angies list and black ist me from being on ANGIES LIST. THEY PROMOTE DEFAMATION. Many contractors i found out don't deal with Angies list members for fear of being blackmailed to do EXTRA WORK OR GET A BAD REVIEW.
Angies List review in Boulder, Colorado: Angie's List Billing Practices
Angie's list did two things. First, they added two services, classic car and health, to my account even thought I didn't ask for them. Second, they raised my price from $7.50/mth in September 2011 to $8.76/mth in October 2011 to $10.94/mth in November 2011. That's almost 46% in two months, with ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING OR EMAIL ANNOUNCEMENT. When I called and asked if the price had been raised or if this was a mistake, she told me that "yes, your charge is fluctuating". I said, flat out, answer yes or no...did the the price get raised. She said no. I asked why were the charges higher, and she said "i'm not going to be bullied into giving you the answer you want". At that point I asked for a supervisor. Supervisor was better. She said yes, they raised the price, but she would credit my card for the difference and keep it at $7.50. I asked her about the two services I didn't order, and the explanation was that when I signed up they were included, but they are now "unbundled" and now charged extra. I asked her to cancel those, and the price further reduced to less than $6. Again, none of this was communicated in the emails I get daily from Angie's List. Very consumer-unfriendly billing practices, almost verging on the deceptive. Ironic to say the least.
