Angie's List is a rip off. I joined and when I started to use some of the advertised deals, I was frustrated by the site and what I began to hear from the companies I was working with for various jobs. First, I tried sending an email to the floor refinisher via the AL...

Angies List in Minneapolis, Minnesota - Angie's list is a scam

I was trying to find a marriage counselor. A google search turned up Angie's list, which told me to get a subscription to see results. So I bought a subscription. Then I found out that Angie's List Health is a separate service. Paywall behind a paywall. So I sent a message to customer service, asking them to cancel my account. Never got a response. The next month I was billed again. I called to cancel my membership. The first customer service rep put me on hold about 5 times in rapid succession, then hung up on me. The second rep was at least polite and professional, but kept trying to offer me new services even though I was trying to cancel. Very frustrating experience.

Angies List in Minneapolis, Minnesota - Horrible!!!

Don't use Angie's list - it is a joke. They use small time vendors who can't get business otherwise. I've paid for three Angie's list vendors; a plumber was totally negligent, didn't have the correct tools, took a 3 hour break and I had to incur the expense to call another plumber. Another vendor did a half assess job on a refrigerator and dishwasher cleaner and 3) the third vendor - house cleaners didn't show up, didn't call or email, took my money and I lost $105. When I called to complain, they won't give me my money back for the cleaners who didn't show up. Don't use Angie's list - Use word of mouth.

Angies List membership deception

I joined Angies List thinking I would have access to all the information listed on the home page, but when I tried to access the "Health" category it appears this falls under the "Additional List Plan" - which requires additional FEES, which is not referenced on the home page!! There is no mention BEFORE applying for membership that this will qualify as a "Primary" subscription ONLY!! This is really a deceptive business practice! The fine print also indicates that Angies List does NOT have to notify you of membership expiration prior to the automatic renewal with your credit card AND the auto renewal is the default setting vs an option! Its obvious Angies List has jumped on the Greedy corporate wagon! I have no desire to endorse this sort of business practice.

Angies List in Minneapolis, Minnesota - $70 to renew??

Angie's List was offering annual subscriptions in my area this year for $16 -- and they want $70 from me!! Outrageous in my opinion. I have taken the time to submit many reports and even talked to their phone reps to submit a report. I haven't used the service all that much -- maybe once every two months or so to get recommendation, but in actuality I don't need service people to help me out every month. Once or twice a year at most for me. Your rates are too high Angie! I used to be loyal and last year's renewal was $30 but there is no way I would renew for $70!

CALL ANGIE'S LIST (866-623-6088) AND HAVE THEM CHANGE YOUR RENEWAL FROM EMAIL TO POSTAL MAIL. Unlike email renewal, if you are on postal mail renewal, then subscription renewal IS NOT AUTOMATIC!!!

After reading MANY negative reviews of Angie's List, I called them and asked if there was any way to stop the auto-renewal of my subscription. Although I could not find it posted anywhere on their website, YOU CAN STOP AUTO-RENEWAL OF YOUR SUBSCRIPTION! Call and have your renewal switched from email to postal mail. Email notification is automatically renewed with an opt-out option. POSTAL MAIL RENEWAL IS AN OPT-IN OPTION. This means that you have to ask them to resubscribe, and they cannot automatically renew your subscription.
