Angies List review in Columbus, Ohio: Angie's List is a scam!

I hired a Radon Mitigation Company to install a Radon system and they are nothing but a bunch of ***'s. Angie's list gave them a very high rating but I find it hard to believe considering the quality of the work performed. The electrical work was a joke, wouldn't have passed inspection. The fan immediately had to be replaced due to be faulty. The sump pump cover we were told that we were getting we did not receive and that had to be replaced. My crawl space that has always been dry as a bone now has condensation building up under the barrier they installed more than likely due to the improper install of the pvc piping there. I would not trust any company that Angie's List recommends.

Angies List - Membership Review from Columbus, Ohio

I joined Angie's List on 3/22/15. I did not notice any difference in the reviews there from those you can get free, via my local BBB, except for the listing of medical providers, which when u access, Angie bills u an additional $5.99. So I decided to terminate effective the end of the first month I had paid for, 4/22/15. Danielle, the customer rep., told me that she could not arrange my termination for 4/22 because I was calling on 4/9. She said that I had to terminate effective today (4/9), or wait and call back on 4/22. I terminated effective today, fearing that if I waited, Angie's list would charge me another month. I find it interesting that Angie's list can efficiently add additional charges to your billing, but the task of terminating your membership when you ask is beyond their ability. Angie's list originated in Central Ohio & I was a member then when they provided high quality service. It appears that their national success has caused a serious decline in their service.

Problems with payment
I shopped for and purchased a used car from Lindsay Honda and have never dealt with so much incompetence in my life. From the beginning, they had my address wrong and even though I told them about it repeatedly, they still did not get it right until it was time for me...

I joined Angie's List in April of 2007 at a yearly rate of 47.00 and understood that this was an introductory rate. In April of 2008 I was billed at renewal for $59.00 which I had originally agreed to when I joined. In April of 2009 I again was charged $59.00 as I did...

I too was scmmed by Angies List - I had a trial for $15. and decided I no longer wanted the service.

Due to a lost card I got a new one issued with a new number which I did not give to Angies list, the sent renewal notices which I ignored. Subsequently they "hacked" my new account. I reported it to my bank and they told me to contact the company which I did. It took a long time to get the charge reversed, with out appology or explaination, after threatening to take legal action.

I'm sorry now that I did not persue that course. Watch your statement folks - their seems to be larceny in Angies plans, as noted above also.
