Angie's List now has secretly begun a policy called 'On Deck' engine, that masks search results of providers with lower than a B average rating, leaving subscribers to conclude that their 'no-hit' search must mean there are no reviews on the sought provider.(I...

Angies list refuses positive review

Some years ago, I decided I wanted to learn fencing as a sport. I could not find a club or coach who would teach me. I found one by accident two years ago, and since I was very pleased with the coach and his club (On Target Fencing, North Ridgeville OH), I decided to give it a positive review on Angies List. It was difficult to post, because Sports Training (such as Golf, Tennis, Martial Arts, etc.) is NOT a category they cover. (Instead, they suggest "Fitness centers" or maybe "Health Care Providers." Silly? Yes.) // After much difficulty, I sent my review in on July 11. It did not appear. When I entered "On Target Fencing" in their search box, it offered me only Target big-box stores in various local suburbs, plus a company that installs fences. I called and emailed them several times, and eventually I was told Angies List couldn't verify the contact information. This was patently ridiculous, since I gave them two numbers for On Target, numbers which are answered either by the head coach or by voice mail 24/7. // I called Angies List again and this time they told me they had a policy that they would not post reviews unless they had two reviewers. I suspect another reviewer would have the same mountain to climb to get to the correct category, etc. // So the many people in Cleveland and NE Ohio who would like to learn to fence cannot find On Target -- or any other club -- on Angies List. Angies list does list another fencing club, but it has NO reviews. So they do not seem to enforce their own rule. // I pay hefty dues to Angies List and dutifully submit reviews, but for this I get my review ignored. I'm investigating other review sources -- Yelp? Google? To be fair, I have found good providers, but the algorithm for submitting reviews is seriously messed up, and I wonder if they just want to list companies that will buy their ads.

Angies List review in Toledo, Ohio: Life threatening experience

I got the name of a contractor from Angies-he sent a felon to our home and destroyed ourkitchen. I called Angies list with police documentation that the repairman sent had an extensive criminal record, and was actually on "work release" from jail. I asked them to remove the contractor from their list-they refused. I believe what Angies list does is just advertise for whomever pays them, and they are not a reputable business. To add insult to injury, they also automatically renew your membership -which I was unaware of . Consequently I paid for an additional year of a service that I did not use or like,

I have no sympathy for anyone who thought joining and believing anything from Angie's List was actually a good idea. A fool and his money...

I purchased a Big Deal from Angie's List for 2 hours of labor for $99. A $172 value with a $73 savings. Anything over an above was at the regular rate. I thought this was acceptable. I got my estimate and at the time everything looked right, so I booked the...

I shopped for and purchased a used car from Lindsay Honda and have never dealt with so much incompetence in my life. From the beginning, they had my address wrong and even though I told them about it repeatedly, they still did not get it right until it was time for me...

I joined Angie's List in April of 2007 at a yearly rate of 47.00 and understood that this was an introductory rate. In April of 2008 I was billed at renewal for $59.00 which I had originally agreed to when I joined. In April of 2009 I again was charged $59.00 as I did...

I too was scmmed by Angies List - I had a trial for $15. and decided I no longer wanted the service.

Due to a lost card I got a new one issued with a new number which I did not give to Angies list, the sent renewal notices which I ignored. Subsequently they "hacked" my new account. I reported it to my bank and they told me to contact the company which I did. It took a long time to get the charge reversed, with out appology or explaination, after threatening to take legal action.

I'm sorry now that I did not persue that course. Watch your statement folks - their seems to be larceny in Angies plans, as noted above also.
