I recently joined Angies List as home services were projected and want to have reliable recommendations. There is no accountability on this site and offers border on scams. Not impressed. I purchased pre-paid service and "coupon" indicated 24 hour response from...

Angies List in Portland, Oregon - Angie Hicks promotes Known crooks
Attempted to contact Angies list about known crooked HVAC Contractor they told me they had confirmed them as good I am/was an Electrical contractor doing work for this Co. and know firsthand that they are not doing the work properly, over charging, not using proper permits etc. Gave them several names to contact and they told me they had no interest in contacting them, I assume the HVAC contractor paid Angie Hicks enough to cause her to not care about the theft she condones. Angies list is a hoax they do not do the proper research or at least they don't follow up on potential changes. They were warned about a crook and told my they don't care. not a good source for reviews
- Bury unfavorable ratings
- Lack of concern for clients interest
- Only interested in your money
Reason of review
let people know the truth
Angies List Review Review from Portland, Oregon
The articles in Angie's list are bent toward the businesses it lists. Reviews of products and services do not cite prices - even ball park, words like "if you are interested in a less expensive model" the facts are obscuscated by nice generalities. When facts are given, Angues list writers tend to not know what they are talking about. An on line article about sliding glass doors says to by "gliding doors" they are the exact same thing except one really expensive company calls them "gliding doors" a hoity touty pomposity for doors that open using tracks. Angie you have got to full of yourself. You forget that you are supposed to be fit the consumer not business.
I am not a angie member and never will be. I am a flooring contractor in Portland Oregon and I was given a bad review for not doing work I was Not hired to do....yes... Husband call and wanted a quote for a repair, wood floor water damage.. I met him, reviewed the job...
Angies List in Portland, Oregon - Difficulties with Angie's List Subscription Kills Its Value
I did not get value from Angie's List (AL). I seldom used it, and when I did once, a service provider did not give me the promised discount. I paid much more for it due to automatically recurring payments from my credit card. Cancelling was purposefully difficult. There was no button for it beside the FAQ link saying it was a type of contact. When I tried to write a cancellation message, I was automatically put through to a live chat saleswoman online who tried to keep me on. After twice requesting a cancellation of my subscription, I had to threaten to complain before she "allowed" me to stop being charged. I do not know whether AL unfairly profits from its recommendations as some believe. Assuming it's legitimate, I suggest staying on only when you need it and be prepared for a hassle when you cancel. Is the company a scam? Maybe not. But they sure weren't the value they hype themselves as.
Angie's List allows consumers to shed light on bad business practices. Unfortunately, they should be added to the negative experience list. Up until today, I was a subscriber to Angie's List since 2008 for two cities. Today I was surprised to receive a...
