Angies List review in Coppell, Texas: Angie's List is shooting themselves in the foot.

As an Angie's List service provider since 2006, I am watching what started as a great thing go to waste. Angie's List is constantly trying to get it's companies to sell cheap services, like a Big Deal coupon. For example, get 3 rooms of carpets cleaned for $99. These are start up companies that work for cheap with inexperienced employees. Do you think a low paid worker knows how to do top notch work? My company is the best in this business, however we are not getting calls because of all these cheap offers. I will be done with Angie's List in the direction it is going. Unfortunately, their customers will be getting mediocre work for their membership. It is sad knowing that Angie's List was bringing the best to their customers, and now they are selling out trying to keep their stock prices up.

Recently I had looked for a locksmith to unlock an interior door at our home. I found a local locksmith that was listed on Angie's List and the service was not only horrible but dishonest and rude. I am not an Angie's List member but when I did the google search for...

Agreed! My experience with several "A" rated businesses on Angie's List have been far from good. I think Angie's List has become more interested in collecting revenues than providing consumers with an honest and accurate rating system of contractors.

I used Net Siding via an Angie's List promo for 16 hours of painting. Ed Trigo, the so-called "marketing director", came to my home and assured me that his "painters" would do a great job. That was when he wasn't trying to sell me windows. I asked him directly such...

My issue is resolved and Angie's List seemed to be helpful in making it happen. I received a full refund from the contractor which frankly shocked me.

The contractor mailed me a money order which tells me they were not on the up and up anyway. Angie's List let me know it was coming after I received it but up to that point had merely stated that if the contractor did not respond to their request for resolution they would put them in a "penalty box". There was no update on any progress until the refund arrived. Angie's List also sent me a new survey asking me to review the contractor again based on my refund.

They stated that due to the resolution they would "discard the report I originally submitted". In other words, take down the negative review. That's not right. This means that all anyone will ever see is positive reviews for contractors, no matter how bad they are!

Due to this experience I have cancelled my membership and find contractors on my own now. Angie's List does not vet these people enough for my liking.

Angies List review: Review about Unhappy Customers from Fort Worth, Texas

Several years ago I started trimming tree's as a side business. Here in north Texas storms tend to tear up trees. we had many very happy customers, but we had a couple that no matter how much you did they couldn't be pleased. Those were the only two reviews we received on Angies List.

Angies list is a scam. I had a roofer on the list bargain with me for my business by allowing me to do some work myself for deductible. I can do the work with help from friends. the agreement was they repair my house roof, then strip separate garage and shed. they then...

I heard the ads on the radio, and wanted to file a complaint about a crooked contractor. But then Angies list asks you to sign up and pay. So not only would I have to write the review, but I would have to pay as well. Forget that! My intent was to help other people...

This man is NOT rated by BBB because he gave his name as “Clovse” with a “v”.

He also hosts pfishing scams using 512-461-3850 and 512-461-8703. Appears to be quite the crook!

Angies List review in Dallas, Texas: My comments are deleted from Angie's list

I subscribed to Angie's list to hire a contractor for my new pool. I interviewed 8 pool builders, 5 from their website and 3 from my own search. I finally selected the one that I had found and people had recommended to me and not the one that was on Angie's list website. After a while I received emails from Angie's list asking me to comment about my experience with all these pool builders, when I entered my comment they started deleting all my comments. In short don't trust Angie's list they are not totally for customers benefit they get paid by contractors to advertise for them too, I only had bad experience using their contractors. All contractors from Angie's list website were arrogant, not polite, over prices, and one of them didn't even show up and wasted my Sunday.

angies list is a business once your put on there by customer if you want to advertise with them it costs money what i think is a bunch of bs is that angies list lets a customer write a review and give that co. a F for telling that customer that your co. does not svc their area angies list customers need to grow up and stop acting like a little kid in grammer school these people that are on angies list think they deserve special treatment beacuse their are a member

Angies List review in Houston, Texas: Advertises for a Company that has no License!

I looked up the manufacturer of my gas grill. "Solaire" Put in my zip code and called the company on there list of approved dealers. Had someone from Gas Grill and Light in Houston come to give me a bid for repair and cleaning. Gave him a $800.00 check for parts and then he quit answering my phone calls etc! I noticed when googling and researching that he was also recommended on Angies List. I emailed them and explained that after further research Gas Grill and Light had not paid there taxes and didn't even have a valid business license! I had been ripped off and they had no plans of bringing my parts! Angies list said that even knowing this information they could not make a report on this company file! They said you have to be a member to change someones rating....did I want to join? I laughed and said why would I pay for a membership that is promoting a company that has ripped me off and they know it but will still give them a good report???? How crazy would that be? Long story short we approached the Distributor and said that they need to take some ownership in who they list as AUTHORIZED dealers! They must have put the screws to the guy because after 2 MONTHs and many emails he brought our parts!!!! Gas GRILL and Light 1760 BLALOCK RD HOUSTON TEXAS 77080!!! Don't give them money in advance......or consider it a DONATION! ANGIE'S LIST - WASTE OF TIME!!! They still have them down as a good company they refer???? Know they aren't!

Angies List review in Austin, Texas: They charge companies to get to the front.

I thought Angies list was different. That they would not be bribed by companies with large budgets to get in front of customers. It's worse than that because they do charge companies and they charge the homeowners too. They are working both sides of the fence. I have about ten top ratings on Angies List and they should put me in front of customers because I am one of the highest rated. They wont unless I pay. That is disingenuous to say the least. My opinion is it is a scam. I pay yelp but they do not claim companies cannot pay them for more coverage, at least they are upfront.

Hi,I'm an investigative reporter - I am currently writing a piece on Angies-List. On a public forum, I do not want to go into further details, but if you could contact me that would be great.

I would be happy to pass over to you the information I have collected from other people who have been seriously mistreated.

Please email: ken101clarke@gmail.com. All the best

I just looked at angies list and what you say is true. Businesses can't pay to be on the list but they can pay to be the one that is shared as top 4. That violates the premise that the ratings are provided by the customer when they are in fact floated by advertising budget.
